This award-winning renovation of the Louisville Free Public Library Main location included the replacement of all HVAC systems, roof systems, and the replacement or upgrade of electrical, acoustical, and lighting components. In addition, most public restrooms were completely renovated.
By working closely with Mechanical Engineer John Phelps, Jill Lewis Smith was able to provide library patrons with lighting at three times their previous levels and successfully address reverberation issues.
Although this new design raised light levels throughout the building, the Louisville Free Public Library has recovered all funds spent on this project in saved energy costs.
