Ms. Smith is the President and Managing Principal of Civic. Ms. Smith has also served on the Kentucky Board of Architects since 2000, and served as president of the board for two years. She has twenty-nine years experience with publicly funded projects as well as private sector work. For nine years, from 1990 until 1999, Ms. Smith served as the City Architect for the City of Louisville, Kentucky. In this role, she oversaw the capital improvements and operations for over 150 city-owned buildings, many of which were in downtown Louisville. Ms. Smith founded this business in 1999, and has successfully grown the office over the past twelve years.

Ms. Smith has worked on a broad range of projects including working as the Town Architect for Norton Commons, as well as working on large public Hope VI developments, the Liberty Green community, and Park Duvalle community. She has and continues to work as the Architect of Record on Libraries, Fire Stations, Police Stations, and Court Houses. She also served as one of the key design team members on the new KFC-YUM! Center developed in Downtown Louisville. As a sub-consultant to HOK Sport (now Populous), Ms. Smith provided interior design services for the state-of-the-art 22,000 seat Arena’s administration area, meeting rooms, secondary sponsor zones, and national retailer space, as well as theming for the concession, food court, and retail areas.
